Family Fun supports CommStrength

Fun runners with big hearts in support of CommStrength

The Ultra-trail Australia challenge takes massive commitment. An amateur running quartet with a drive to make a difference (and in need of meaningful incentive for 5:15am training sessions!) decided to hold a fundraising family fun day in April 2016.

CommStrength was a natural choice as the benefactor. One of the running foursome had been touched by the tragedy of suicide in 2004 and, through friends, had heard of Father John’s work and attended some of the CommStrength events to learn more.

What greater encouragement than the support of friends, family and work mates having dug deep to help CommStrength continue saving precious human life?

Taking this invaluable motivation, the girls teamed up with personal trainer and friend Heidi from Heidi’s Social Fitness and set about planning the Fun Day.

Thanks to sponsorships for training kilometres and the generosity of work mates $1,808.55 was raised and, importantly, a heap of fun had in the process! This will support the tireless work of Father John supporting youth at risk of suicide in our community.

With all fundraising behind them the girls set of for the blue mountains and completed the Ultra-Trail 22km in May.

Thankyou to Heidi’s Social Fitness Kotara, Kotara Little Athletics Club, Funamental Fitness For Kids, Merewether Golf Club, Coles Kotara, Koko Hairdressing Kotara, Luke Arms Photography, Joslin Street Butchery and Bakery and amazing friends and family who baked and supported the day!
